Perlumina’s light-responsive design surfaces integrate art, physics, and biophilic design principles to translate natural imagery into a diffuse, living glow. Surfaces become perspective and light-driven experiences of light and nature that change continually according to atmospheric light and angle of view — illuming the way we see both space and the natural world, and offering new possibilities to design with light and natural imagery for interior design and architecture.
Actively creating a reciprocal dialogue between the natural world and the built environment, Perlumina elicits the mental sense of harmony, wonder and awe we experience in nature using natural imagery in the forms of scale invariance, color, form and beauty activated by reflected atmospheric light and viewer perspective.
Utilizing reflected light as both process and principle, form and function, Perlumina experientially evokes the idea that everything in nature reflects, reciprocally, the purpose of all the other elements therein, to function harmoniously, or logically, as a whole. In this way, everything in nature is both a literal and figurative mirror of, a reflection of, itself - an infinity in unity. This unified purpose is demonstrated as harmony, thus beauty, by means of reciprocal benefit.
